ACTIVITIES: Rest & Recreate, Ranch style

Horse Drawn Carriage Ride

Settle into a classic horse-drawn carriage and roll through Montana’s wide-open landscapes. Along the way, take in sweeping meadows, towering pines, and the chance to spot native wildlife like elk, deer, and bald eagles — all while the steady rhythm of hoofbeats sets the pace.

Cow Croquet

For an equestrian experience unlike anything you’d find on another dude ranch vacation, test your wrangling skills in the thrilling and challenging Cow Croquet.

You and three of your cowboy or cowgirl friends will mount horses in the Saddle Club’s indoor arena and try to guide cows through one of five gates — just like knocking croquet balls through hoops in the backyard. Compete against another team of four, with each team taking turns to “push” the cows through the selected gate.

Painting Workshop

Led by Montana-based artist and educator Ashley Mitchell, this workshop invites you to tap into your creativity against the backdrop of Big Sky Country. With over eight years of experience and a portfolio spanning murals, book illustrations, and more, Ashley guides guests in capturing Montana’s untamed beauty on canvas.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time, you'll find endless inspiration in the sweeping landscapes and wild spirit of the West.

Nature Hike

Take a Montana nature hike and discover the diverse flora and fauna with more than 30 miles of marked trails to explore. This inclusive activity features a variety of terrains to accommodate all guests.

Choose to go your own way, or for a fee, let one of our naturalists guide you with insights about native plants and wildlife. You’ll cross expansive meadows, babbling brooks, and hike alongside the legendary Blackfoot River.

Chuck Wagon Dinner

The finest offerings are prepared before your eyes. From all-natural chicken, Angus prime rib, fresh corn, and asparagus grilled over a campfire to simple, scrumptious classics like baked beans and fresh-fruit cobbler warmed in a Dutch oven, you won’t walk away with an empty stomach.

Before and after dinner, enhance your authentic Montana experience by pitching horseshoes and enjoying the extraordinary talents of local musicians.

Other Activities

Adventure comes in all forms on Montana’s Ranches. Scale rock faces on a rappelling adventure, paddle pristine waters by canoe, head up in a hot air balloon, or chase trout on a fly-fishing expedition. Saddle up for horseback rides or dive deeper with a horse whispering session. For those craving a creative outlet, mosaic workshops await, while adrenaline junkies can hit the shooting range, paintball fields, or rip through rugged trails on an ATV or buggy tour.

Here, the wild isn’t caged — it’s your ultimate playground.
